Who are you?
My name is Brad Direnzi and I am the project coordinator for SEED 2 GREEN. I'm also an advocate counselor at Grace Dodge High School in the Bronx, NY.
What are your hobbies?
I like to cook, go running, listen to/play music and do pretty much anything that gets me outdoors. I also love to travel and try new things.
Why did you join SEED 2 GREEN?
I've always been interested in environmental issues. When I was living in Pittsburgh (where I am from) I helped create an urban garden at a high school where I was working at the time. After taking part in that project I saw the benefits from urban gardening on communities and wanted to do more of it. I helped create Seed 2 Green as a chance to see the same changes happen here at Grace Dodge H.S.
Why are you interested in the environment issues?
These issues interest me because I think that urban areas need to be more green. In New York City I believe that it's sometimes especially hard to gain access to green space but projects like our urban gardening initiative will provide the Bronx with another much needed concrete-less and well-maintained space.
How do you think that the urban garden will benefit community?
If we, as a community, can contribute just a small amount of our efforts towards the environment, we will see the positive effects of these changes as they happen.

My hobbies are surfing the internet to search for information I don't know about, listening to music & going on social networks.
Why did you join SEED 2 GREEN?
I joined SEED 2 GREEN becuase I care about the environment nn believe my community should b more involved and/or aware of the environment that they live in that surrounds them.
Why are you interested in the environment issues?
I want my voice to be heard about the environment & I care about our mother earth. people take advantage of our streets by throwing garbage on the floor outside not knowing they are hurting themselves in a way. They pollute their surroundings without a care but I am pretty sure you wouldnt want someone to come into your home & throw garbage on your floor. I am speaking for the unspeakable, which is our environment. People take care of the inside of their homes & don't worry about the outside. For example, people choose to use lightbulbs that take up more energy than fluroscent lightbulbs . Why would you buy a lightbulb that gives off heat, wastes more energy & doesn't even last for a descent amount of time ? I know I wouldn't want to buy a lightbulb like that. People would save so much more energy if they buy fluroscent lightbulbs. Fluroscent lightbulbs don't give off heat, they save more energy & they last 2 or 3 times longer than your heat giving lightbulb. But you only don't have to take care of your environment, you also have to take care of your health. Would you rather buy a burger for a dollar at mcdonalds or get a five dollar salad? I know many people would choose of course a burger because it's cheaper but just because something is cheap doesn't mean it's good for you. That burger might taste good now but your body will pay for it later in time. You may so "Oh it's one burger what harm will it do?". Well one burger a month can turn into 3 times a week because fast food is addictive at times & you might notice yourself gaining a little more weight then usually. Then think back when you said well it's just one burger when one burger alone can contain more than 600 calories! New York has seen the highest rate of obesity & do you know why? It's because you rather choose to eat the cheap greasy foods rather than choose a healthy salad that may cost a little more, but it'll pay off to your body in the long run. Just because being healthier cost a little more doesnt mean you have to just put off being healthy. Sometimes things that are better for you cost more. You don't have to buy the most expensive best wheat bread with all the nuts , seeds & other things in it. Wonder bread actualy has wheat bread that looks & tastes like white bread & is healthy for you.I'm just trying to say if your going to eat fast food don't eat it everyday it's okay to eat it once in a blue moon. Eating healthy isn't that bad you dont have to eat salads everyday or starve yourself just choose your food wisely & looking at the calories of what you eat isn't a bad idea either. Eat more fruits,vegetables & excercise think healthy not greasy. Just taking a brisk walk can be excercising or playing your favorite sport. I'm not asking to go to the gym & hire a trainer & do push-ups, sits up & lift weights NO! Just take better care of yourself inside & out or else you'll be paying for it when you cant fit into your favorite jeans anymore.
How do you think that the urban garden will benefit community?
I think it'll help people be more aware of the environment & react as if "Wow I never seen a garden in the Bronx besides the Botanical Gardens, maybe I can help the environment out in a small way too". Maybe after people see the urban garden they'd be more curious as to how they can maybe contribute also to our garden or just to the environment.

My name is Maite Amador, I am a senior at Grace Dodge and I am part of he Seed 2 Green group.
What are your hobbies?
I love to play basketball whenever I have a chance and I love to watch TV.
Why did you join SEED 2 GREEN?
I joined because I have always love to plant I just never had the chance to actually plant something. The Seed 2 Green is not only giving me the chance to plant but to turn something that was never admired before which is the front of my school into a beautiful little garden. Im going to be so proud to walk by my school and see flowers growing in the front and know that I had helped that happen.
Why are you interested in the environment issues?
This is our world and if we are not interested in it no one else is. im interested because I want to help even if it is a little help in making this planet survive and look better in the future.
How do you think that the urban garden will benefit community?
The urban garden community will teach people that nobody else is going to make this world a better place to live in but themselves and people would begin to realize that it is time to start being involved in these issues.

I like to do yoga, work out at Planet Fitness (GYM), read and write, play video games or any kind of fun games. I also do hair, and I enjoy cooking and baking here and there.
Why did you join SEED 2 GREEN?
I joined Seed 2 Green to try out new things and lean more about our community.
Why are you interested in the environment issues?
I'm interested because not everybody realizes that outside is our home as well as inside, i'm ready to help garden and make a big change on this earth.
How do you think that the urban garden will benefit community?
I believe the urban garden will open people eyes and reach out to them. They will see how much more beautiful this earth can be and everbody will begin to appreciate the environment and hopefully doesn't continue to liter and abandon it.

I am interested in these issues because I believe gardens should be respected like how we respect our homes; a garden is a home to beautiful flowers.

I believe if we plant this beautiful garden then others will be inspired to either garden or do something to better the community .
